Kolzig Posted October 25, 2004 http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/041025/lam081_1.html DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil Quote This press release announces the development of Resurrection of Evil, the first expansion pack for DOOM 3. Co-developed by Nerve Software and id Software, the expansion comes with a new singleplayer campaign as well as new multiplayer maps with support for up to 8 players."Following the events of DOOM 3 and featuring new locations, characters and weapons, including the return of the double-barreled shotgun, DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil expands the terrifying action that fans and critics have been raving about." What can I say, give me more D3. I can't wait to testdrive that good ol' d-b shotgun!

Erkki Posted October 25, 2004 I still have to start playing again someday. My save games were destroyed by Alexandre the Great when I was about 2/3 through.
Erwin_Br Posted October 25, 2004 I just started playing. I bought a faster video card last week, so I really HAD to buy Doom 3, even though I'm not a fan of it at all. Anyway, it's like playing Half Life with the story and events being dumbed down. I mean, again I'm in a base, surrounded by scientists and soldiers. Again horrendous creatures break through after a human error. The way they presented the accident, the moment when hell breaks loose, is VERY shallow in comparison with HL. I mean, you look at a monitor. A scientist is getting very nervous and shit. And then you watch an explosion on a video screen. Wow. Here's a picture of me playing the game, btw: The good news is; My video card is able to play Doom 3 very smoothly on medium detail level in a resolution of 800x600 with all the options turned on (with 4x anti-aliasing) except vertical sync. or something. --Erwin
Redwall Posted October 25, 2004 Let's nominate "Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil" for the Big List of Worst Game Names Ever.

I mean, you look at a monitor. A scientist is getting very nervous and shit. And then you watch an explosion on a video screen. Wow. Well, HL did take the idea from Doom (as have many other things, including Event Horizon, which was pretty much the movie of Doom). You should play that scene again theough and watch out for the details - the demon skull things fly into the monitors, where you can watch them possessing people. Go around and activate the monitors to see the marines faring badly against their new zombie friends. In fact there are lots of little details throughout the game that are easy to miss if you play through it in a dreary "I'm determined not to like this" kind of way. Not sure what I make of this expansion though. Unless it is going to add some major new features besides new weapons and "more of the same", I don't really see the point. I enjoyed Doom3, but there had better be a damn good reason to buy the expansion.

Kolzig Posted October 27, 2004 Chris Morris, CNN said: This just in from the Activision conference call. They're expecting the Doom 3 expansion pack (DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil ) to come out at the "end of the March quarter". I hope they can keep that release date. Roderick Posted October 27, 2004 Sorry, but did I just read CNN actually announces news about GAMES? ,,A new bombing in Iraq has killed twenty soldiers. And in other news, an expansion pack is coming out for Doom 3. Also, they're rerunning The Flintstones on the Hannah-Barbera channel."
Kolzig Posted October 27, 2004 Actually that was a news bit from Shacknews that some guy from CNN told them. I think?
Marek Posted October 27, 2004 Chris Morris' column is the best ever, and puts all the specialist press to shame. Do not mock it, my friends.

Kolzig Posted November 20, 2004 DOOM 3: Resurrection of Evil Details 11 new singleplayer levels, 3 new monsters, 3 new weapons and 4 new multiplayer maps. One new weapon is the previously mentioned double-barreled shotgun, another is a Half-Life 2 type gravity gun called the Grabber. The expansion pack will also see the return of the enviromental suit from the previous DOOM games.
Chris Posted November 21, 2004 Rodi said: Well I don't know shit about American television, so don't be too harsh on me ; It's a column, not a TV piece. http://money.cnn.com/commentary/game_over/ Like Marek says, it's probably the best industry column around, and it really does horribly shame pretty much all the "real" video game journalists. General Fuzzy McBitty Posted February 9, 2005 I vote that they seal doom away for a while, and give us something totally different. The whole idea of doing new Doom related games is rather stupid to me, mostly because of the turn that the FPS has taken in recent years. Story driven FPS is in, and the original Doom had minimal story at best. Half Life was already "Doom, but with a story." So the idea of Doom trying to be "Doom, but with a story" is a bit tired. I say go in one direction and keep going in that direction. If you want to make Doom, fine, make Doom. It's your company, I don't give a shit. I won't be buying it though. Either make a story driven game, or make a mindless FPS like Serious Sam that only has a story if you read page one of the manual. Don't try to sell me a mindless FPS that has a half ass story written by your 10 year old while he was warming the bench at a soccer (or Football for you Euro-gamers) game. And before any of you tell me that I'm wrong and that Doom 3 was a good game I would just like to say that my opinion is totally awesome, and if you disagree, you're a fuckwit. Thanks, Fuzzy This post was brought to you by in association with .
