BigJKO Posted January 3 It’s 2025 and that means Season 2 of Andor is just around the corner. Season 1 ended up being one of my favorite television ever, so I’m incredibly excited for 2. Sad that that’s the end, but gives it an even bigger chance of ending with a perfect track record. Anyone else excited about it?
BillTheCat Posted January 9 Season 1 was the best star wars in like 40 years. I'm slightly hopeful for season 2 but very worried disney is going to ruin it. I'm staying away from all previews though. I want to go in blind and be surprised again.
BigJKO Posted January 16 That's actually a very good idea, going in as blind as possible. I'm already spoiled on some surprises, but maybe I can stay away from any more previews and news 'til April. We'll see. As for Disney ruining it, I'm optimistic they won't. It's not a big enough hit for them to meddle with, I feel. But I could be wrong. It's a minor miracle already that we're even getting a Season 2, that Tony Gilroy seemingly has so much creative freedom and the budget for both seasons is reportedly at $645 million. Maybe Disney will fuck with it after all, with it seemingly the only good Star Wars thing they've got going for them*. *I like Skeleton Crew a lot, for very different reasons. It's not the best Star Wars, or anything, but it's oozing with personality.
brkl Posted January 27 Loved Andor. All the others I've seen have been really bad apart from parts of early Mandalorian. I hope S2 will be as good, but I will at least check out Rotten Tomatoes to temper my expectations if necessary. I've been hesitant about Skeleton Crew. It has kids in it, no? I see enough kids in my daily life ;D
James Posted February 12 I'm also on the Andor-is-fantastic train. It's a shame there won't be more from the perspective of wanting to spend time in (that particular vision of) that world, but it's also entirely fitting to tell a defined story and finish it before Disney loses interest and leaves it to peter out and die. It dares to ask "what if Star Wars contained affluent American suburbia?" I'm being flippant – the setting for the rest of the season will doubtless be very different, and Star Wars has of course always drawn on real-world sources. It's just funny how usually that's meant to create a believable unfamiliarity for Western audiences, whereas here it's exactly the same stuff you see in like 50% of all English language films, except the vehicles all hover and there's a blue kid with an elephant trunk. I guess the idea is to establish a familiar setting that the characters then get whisked away from – and probably to be relatable to a more-specifically-young intended audience (remembering that almost all Star Wars is kind of for kids anyway) – but I can't help but feel that it undermines the feeling of Star Wars universe a bit knowing that there's space-paperboys riding around space-American neighbourhoods on their hoverbikes or whatever. And it's also kind of ... I don't know, it feels like a turning-inwards. It's too specific.
