Play Psychonauts in the Bay area?

And because I believe so strongly that the children are the future, we will hang out and chat with the young art students of today.
The next person that even suggests subliminally that 'children are our future,' will be stabbed repeatedly in the jugular with a fountain pen until dead.
Eep. :buyme:

I made a thread about this on another forum and someone actually went..

I just attended this little shindig and it was pretty interesting. The people from Doublefine were giving sessions on various issues to the people who attended, there were about 6 sessions going on at any one time from topics on game design to concept art. I got there late so I missed the keynote speech or whatever, but I did attend one session on concept art which was pretty interesting.

After that there was some mingling, etc etc, and a chance for people to play the game.

So a couple of notes here:

I don't really play platformers

I like a lot of games

I only got about 10 minutes with the game and it seemed to be an early level.

I didn't get a change to play with any of the psychic powers, just the basic moves like jumping and punching but what I did play was fun and the game just exuded a lot of charm. First I saw a guy playing and he had to do some swinging jumping puzzle, standard fare, and then I did a trapeez type of jumping puzzle, which again was standard fare. Then there was a rail-sliding section which was fun. And then a guy played this crazy section where the room was rotating and he had to navigate some platforming sections in it.

As everybody has seen from the pictures and stuff, the art style is incredible, and the characters are very unique and memorable. The animation is top notch, and I think we don't have to worry about the story. And in terms of pure gameplay, from the short time I spent with it, it was a fun title. It's a platformer and stays true to its genre. I don't know how other parts of the game will get, but I can imagine they'll only get even more imaginative and crazy. I wanted to get some hands-on impressions before I decided to buy this game for my brother-in-law who loves platformers. And now that I've played it myself I'm definitely going to get it for him.

Thanks for passing that bit around. Hopefully it'll be a bit better than "standard fare," though.

"Standard fare" is a lot better than "shit", though. Thinking about it now, I think people should start calling other people "standard fareheads" more often.

:naughty:

The actual jump and attack gameplay is pretty standard mario/ratchet and whoever/etc style, but the point is that that stuff is laced with adventure style puzzle/dialoge/story with a really nicely designed visual aesthetic.
