ztejas Posted May 15, 2004 Heyawhatever, I am new here, so feel free to flame me, ban, use and abuse me like all the cool guys in summer camp. On my search for valuable information about E3 I had a weak moment and checked out some of the 'gemme your credit card for a subscription'-websites and everywhere I saw the term 'E3 booth babe'. I always thought E3 is about money and big egos, but all the sudden it is about chicks? I don't wanna see those bitches next to a demo of Doom 3 or Nintendo DS, how sick is this? Can't people go rent a porn anymore like it used to be? I really respect the mankind's need for some booty but please explain why there needs to be a chick with a boobjob at the Activision booth? Muahhhhh
Emma Posted May 15, 2004 E3 has always had 'booth babes', who arn't really babes they're just regular women who've had a lot of plastic surgery done and now ressemble Barbie. I think it's that whole thing that 'sex sells' and that people who like computer games are all lonely nerds, so this gives them an opportunity to get next to some 'sexy' women. I don't know. I just got up!

I just got up! But... I always considered you to be a babe too. And you don't even have plastic surgery! (As far as I know ) So, uh... Does this mean I'm a lonely nerd? --Erwin
schepton Posted May 15, 2004 Sex sells, simple fact.

AGA Posted May 15, 2004 Whoa, Emma (new, non-AGers version) goes to the same college as me. Given there are only about 3000 students there, those are some long odds...

I think this summer camp trauma might be the cause of your hate for booth babes. But generally I agree that its kind of odd, their connections with the games are tenuous at best; and I can only imagine the akwardness of trying to get one to demo a game when she's never played one in her life, I imagine it would be nervous silence for all. ysbreker Posted May 16, 2004 To prove that not all boothbabes are dumb bimbo's with no comuter experience whatsoever I give you Asia Carrera: Porn star and self proclaimed computergeek.

Friggin hell! What is it that you study? I'm up at Townhill in my first year of Photo Arts. Also, we should both remain Emma and Emma_. I've been a member round the Mixnmojo community for about 5 years, now, known under this name, so I really don't want to change it. I like my name!!

I live in Townhill (for the next 5 weeks, at least...). I'm studying Software Engineering (1st year) on the Mount Pleasant campus.
Emma Posted May 16, 2004 Ooh. Plenty of folks on my course staying in the halls there. My boyfriend actually stays over in Mount Pleasant (where I am at the moment), my house is in Brynmill but I haven't been there since like last year because I'm always at James'. Heh. Also, could you break into the Townhill campus and get my artwork for me so I don't have to pick it up on Monday?
AGA Posted May 16, 2004 I would but I'm in Cardiff (parents') for the weekend. That and I'd only get lost, I haven't a clue where anything except the library and bar are on Townhill...
Emma Posted May 16, 2004 Er! It's between the library in the bar in the upstairs part of the old building... I haven't been home since Christmas since I'm from Scotland, but my parents are meant to be coming down to visit soon - I fear this because they're not going to like my new piercings. :S
AGA Posted May 16, 2004 Well anyway, I don't think they'd take too kindly to me wandering in and asking for your work, anyway... "Can I have Emma's work please?" "Emma who?" "I dunno... Emma... off the Internet... That's Emma, not Emma_ by the way..."
Emma Posted May 16, 2004 Haha. There's naff all people on photography (since they don't take on many) they'd probably know exactly who I am. Also, I hate the library on Townhill the staff there are book nazis and they rig the computers up in such a way that they tell you lies and you have to pay fines on 'overdue' books. Pfah. AGA Posted May 16, 2004 I've never used the Townhill library for bookular purposes (only for Internet usage in the three months or so it took bastard NTL to hook my cable in my room up). The Computing library is on Mount Pleasant, and its staff seem to be nice and helpful, not even vaguely fascistic.
Moosferatu Posted May 16, 2004 I'm with Trep. I love that cat. I wonder how she got it to sleep in a blanket...
Intrepid Homoludens Posted May 16, 2004 Looks like it's still a kitten. Probably was originally swaddled in that blanket.

emma_ Posted May 16, 2004 Well, I'm not changing my name either, for the same reasons as Emma, I've been me since day one on AGS, and even longer on several other ag-boards, no reason to confuse people further. (And Emma, it's not a matter of who was first, it's not a competition, IRL I have friends with the same name, and I seem to be able to tell them apart, no worries.) You guys are just going to have to pay attention to who's saying what. And might I add, I'm secretely very happy that Kingz assumed that it was me when Erw said something about being a "hot babe"... About booth-babes, I always wonder if it's to bring attention to whatever is presented, or remove it... Anyways, I love the sci-fi fairs here in Stockholm, no booth-babes (although I was once asked by the staff in the comic book store I frequent if I'd wanna be their booth-babe at one of those gatherings) only a lot of people wearing costumes that represents their favs from the movies/tv-shows. And I admit, I love it, think it's great fun, so I'm not begrudging anybody the joy of getting a pamphlet from a babe, who no doubt spend a lot of money making them as a non-descript body/face at a fair...
