Join the thieves guild, and you'll be able to get your get your name cleared, for a substantial amount of money (half of your bounty, I think).

If you really don't want to start over, you'd better invest in an enchanted item that casts "Calm Humanoid". Personally I'd start over though.

Start over?! Man, isn't Morrowind like three thousand hours long? I've been playing it for nearly five months now and I'm pretty sure I'm only like, level thirteen or something. (I haven't played it for at least a month, though.)

I don't know anything about enchanting items, but I'd try and do what Metallus suggested.

Christ sake man, just play the main quest already. Heh. It took me about 4 characters until I got one that suited what I wanted to do in the game, really. Avoid levelling up too much though, or levelling up right when it tells you to...get those attribute multipliers first. Enchanting an item generally involves joining the Mages' Guild and getting enough skill to trap souls. You have to buy a Calm Humanoid spel, not to be confused with scrolll (people in the mages guild in various cities sell different spells), and then pay a mage to apply it to an item (rings and amulets are good) and be sure to have a soul gem at the ready to use. GameFAQs is worth reading about this stuff, I don't know how clear this info is to people who haven't tried it before, plus I've had a few beers at this point in the evening...

I avoided the main quest for like the first two months I played it, I think, mostly because it was really dull when compared to all the side quests. But then I basically exhausted all the subquests and became the Knight of the Imperial Dragon or whatever the hell it was called, which actually sucked because no one treated me any different - despite the fact that I was apparently the highest ranked militairy person in the land - and I didn't even get anything really cool.

So I think now I'm halfway through the main quest but it's just so fucking dull. Also I hate having to go up to those asshole Dunmer who live in the most remote, inaccessible part of Morrowind for plot advancement. Fucking Dunmer, I hate them.

Oh, was that the obese mechanical dwarf who lived with all the zombies in that one mage's basement?

Holy shit, that is one sentence I never thought I'd write.

He also had magical flying boots that you traded for a cure to your zombie disease, I believe.

Let's just stop now. :)

Yeah, good plan.

Cheat?

Morrowind has a powerful editor, just determine the variable responsible for your criminal status and use the console to alter it.

It beats the hell out of starting again.

In future try to be a stealthier thief/murderer/rogue-bed-user...

He's not obese, he's just big boned... uh... I mean, hideously mutated. :erm:

...or alterantively you could just take off the medium armor that you stole from the guards...

I beat the game with level 38 after a few weeks. people are always talking about that thing where you join a house and get a castle or something... i could never decide... now there really is better stuff to do than play morrowind (wow?) I even bought the extensions but on going back into the game really didn't care anymore... so I never played those...

Honestly, I turned the game on a few weeks ago, just to see how it looks on my latest graphics card, and was freaked out by how pug fugly the game was.

Due to some bug, I automatically got enrolled in House Hlallu when I uncovered the plot to assassinate the Duke. After I beat the main quest, all the cool shit I got to beat Dagoth Ur made the game very easy, so for a couple days I was able to stay interested, but I was ready to move to another game after that. I recommend it.

If it's just the guards in Vivec, then it's because you wore indoril armor, and you can't get that removed. If it's everywhere, it's because you have a death warrant on your head. I forgot if you can get that removed at the thieves guild (balmora south wall corner club, talk to the guy behind the counter once you're a member), but it's worth a shot.

PJ I talked to the guy in the theives guild and got the price off my head but that didn't help! I got no bounty and I got arrested but nothing worked so far and it's beginning to piss me off! I can run around Naked and still get killed by any guards! GRRRR! :frusty: But! :oldman: I started a new file and doing some things a little differently....Hopefully all goes as planned.....

One of Morrowind's biggest flaws is, indeed, that the game doesn't really interact with you, it doesn't notice anything that you've done or accomplished. That's about its biggest flaw in its immersiveness and completeness, and I have good hopes for Oblivion to solve that. Other than that, it's still a majestic experience. Which will indeed take you thirteen hundred hours to finish. I'm still enjoying and playing the game and haven't seen everything yet, and it's been over three years now that I've been playing. Gorgeous!

Umm dude... Why dont you just use a console command? When you are in game press the button | ... Ehh lol... Well you know what i mean ;) ... And type:

Setpccrimelevel 0

That should do it :oldman: ... Anyway... If you have any problems with morrowind... The best place to post them is at their homepage ;)http://www.elderscrolls.com/forums ... I'm registered there :woohoo: Lol...

I get the impression that they -still- released Morrowind a bit to early. Just looking at some of the neat stuff people have modded seems to imply that the engine could have been pushed a bit further.

That being said, if you have tried out the Bloodmoon stuff you can see -some- effects of your actions on the world.

Personally I would have really liked to have been able to become more involved in House politics, and dramatically effect the political landscape of the island. Here's hoping for Oblivion! ;)

Yeah, that takes a lot of the zing out of your actions. No matter which house you battle ferociously for, Morrowind doesn't change politically. And when you reach the hightest rank, it doesn't matter at all. The only real thing that changes is how people greet you in relation to your fame in the world.
