MrHoatzin Posted April 20, 2005 I bought TRON 2.0 at my local book store. Funny thing is, the game keeps turning my computer off. Only Monolith can do that shit. In addition to being potentially harmful and annoying, it is eerie. This is a game where you break shit down and fix shit -- shit that is symbolically suposed to represent components and architectures in the innards of a computer. I don't want to destroy some pathway in the game and at the same time be treated with my computer buzzing for a second and going out like a roman candle. I'm downloading a patch now. Has anyone else had similar problems?
MrChlorophyll Posted April 20, 2005 Chronicles of Riddick did it and now Silent Hunter III does it. I kinda always thought it had something to do with heat because it's kinda random. Except with SHIII. It happens after about 5 minutes.
MrHoatzin Posted April 20, 2005 It still keeps turning my computer off. It happens when I load a new level, a few seconds into it, or when I try to interract with anything. If it is heat, then it is a sudden burst of heat out of nowhere. The symptoms point at something something else.
ysbreker Posted April 20, 2005 probably a (drivers related) bug :/ I had the same thing. It is a nice game tho. Especially the special look & feel the game has in the later levels is rather spectacular. Another cool thing is the way your gun reassembles itself when you switch from mode to mode. tabacco Posted April 20, 2005 Assuming it's XP, try this... Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Startup & Recovery -> Settings -> Uncheck "Automatically Restart" That way if there's a stop error at least you'll get to see the text of it.

Chris Posted April 20, 2005 Chris. You need to let it go. I'm not sure you understand how much impact it had on me to spend $1500 on a PC from supposedly the top of the line specialty makers, then have it not work for a month, then send it to them for two more months only to have them send it back still completely not working followed by the most unhelpful and idiotic tech support converstions imaginable. I have just yesterday finally solved the problem myself due to the internet, no help whatsoever from Alienware. At least I THINK I have solved it. It's been stable so far. But who knows? It was stable for the first few weeks after purchase, so that may not mean anything...

Speaking from experience, that has got to be one of the most stupid things Microsoft has ever done. Restart, flash error for a split second, restart, flash error for a split second. . . MrHoatzin Posted April 20, 2005 The only other game that ever fucked with me thusly was Neverwinter Nights. :(

manny_c44 Posted April 20, 2005 Sometimes there can be problems with AGP setting in videodrivers...go to them and look under "smartgart", put it one down from whatever it is and give it another try. But first try turning anti-aliasing off. Since we have the same video card these are some of the cures I've found for other problematic games, but my guess is it probably won't work and you'd be better off googling for a help forum. MrHoatzin Posted April 20, 2005 I've already done everything the customer (life?) support told me to do. It ain't working. It is really bizarre since NOLF2 works just fine; the two are basically the same game, only slightly off visually.
