lailoken Posted May 25, 2005 There's a video of the new Epic project "Gears of War" on Hellogamer.com. While watching the video I was simply amazed by the overall BAD feeling I managed to have about this. I mean it hits all the stereotype buttons! It's set in a postapocalyptic world where you play a badass army dude with big guns and fight gothic/steampunk/mutant monsters. So Cliffy B comes on and goes on about how he always wanted to do a tactic/survival horror type game... still I think it could be good, I mean it runs on the new Unreal Engine! And then I see the footage and I just can't believe it. I mean on a certain level they set a new standard for non-immersion. You really have to check it out for yourself! So not only is it third person, no the camera which is placed off the right shoulder of our avatar zooms in each time you shoot... hahahahahahahahahaha [linkage]
MrHoatzin Posted May 26, 2005 It is too fucking shiny, but I kinda like it. The arbitrarily-shooting-over-the-cover-while-remaining-hidden is a new moment, at least I haven't seen it in games before.

Vietcong had it too. Vietcong was actually pretty good. For a while, at least. Didn't play that much.
