Lechimp Posted July 27, 2005 http://filmforce.ign.com/articles/636/636398p1.html Wow, it looks like some crappy rip off of Aliens
OftenK Posted July 27, 2005 I'm...a little surprised. Usually, even for shitty movies, they try to make it look good in the trailer. For this one, it's like they didn't even try. It's almost as if it was their intention to come out and say "This movie will suck."
Redwall Posted July 27, 2005 It reminded me of the Sci-Fi channel's Saturday night craptackulars.
Taylor Posted July 28, 2005 As a student planning on majoring in film sfter High School, I really don't see how anyone can become a film maker and want to make those kinds of movies. It is like going into fine art to draw stick figures.
MrHoatzin Posted July 28, 2005 Some people turn stick figures into an art form. Look at Quentin Tarantino.
MrHoatzin Posted July 28, 2005 Also, filming a movie after Doom feels to me like writing a tie-in novel for a porn movie.

MrHoatzin Posted July 28, 2005 Unlocking human genome = portal to hell?k thx It is a very layered message. You're not clever enough to get it.
Chris Posted July 28, 2005 Wow this trailer was shittacular. It blows my mind that for some reason Hollywood is incapable of translating something so straightforward as Doom to even a moderately competent level.
Taylor Posted July 28, 2005 Some people turn stick figures into an art form. Look at Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino's films actually hold recognizable characters and good storylines, whereas this Doom movie has the Rock and alien blastin'. Tarantino's films are definatly "shiny," but Pulp Fiction was definatly a great movie. What set that and Resevoir Dogs out form the crowd was the realisticly blunt and outright dialogue and actions when the characters were thrown into very extreme situations. As far as Kill Bill goes- didn't like the first, thought the second was pretty good because it built on the characters and the storyline.
Jake Posted July 28, 2005 I like that they got the (terrible and bland but maybe meant to be menacing sounding) 80's horror movie trailer voice guy out of mothballs for this trailer's voiceover.
Taylor Posted July 28, 2005 I KNOW you wish you had that voice. I sure do.
Jake Posted July 28, 2005 He's like the regular trailer guy but not quite as gruff sounding, and definitely less interested in his source material, despite his script telling him to describe some gruesome scenario.

All I was saying was that he works with cliches and pulp to make something of artistic value.
Oath Posted July 28, 2005 Is it just me or is almost everything really dark in the trailer? As in not-enough-light dark, not the mood it tries to set. I couldn't see what was going on at all whenever a monster of some sort was on-screen. Feels really cheap. Also, hold the "Doom 3 is dark!!" puns.
Lechimp Posted July 28, 2005 They probably didn't want people to see how crappy the monsters looked.
Bud Muhnquai Posted July 28, 2005 Aaah. Doom movie. OR: "Adventures in Blah". Not to be confused with Adventures in Babysitting mind. Which is awesome.
netmonkey Posted July 28, 2005 Ha ha ha.... It's the perfect adaptation! Doom is totally the cheesy crappy Hollywood movie, with pretty graphics.

Ag3nt_Sm1th Posted July 28, 2005 I have to admit back when graphics sucked doom 95 was pretty good.

David Posted July 28, 2005 I'll watch it, as long as they did the entire soundtrack on MIDI.
Taylor Posted July 29, 2005 Indeed, but pulp is the medium. I was refering to stick figures (bad movies) in my simile as the end product, not the structure. Sallgood. I can see a horrible movie as a pretty good interpretation of Doom 3. I was pretty dissapointed with the game- how little the plot was developed or the gameplay changed. I think THE ROCK fits the Sargeant's character pretty well, seeing how he just shoots stuff.
Beardy Posted July 29, 2005 This film won't be as good as the Postal one that's being made by Uwe Boll...
