OMFG there is going to be a new "Mana" game!

Recommended Posts

I just noticed this on Gametrailers.com.

Apparently Square-Enix has released a teaser for a game called

"the World of Mana" which is set to be a follow up to the SNES classic as I understand it.

This is going to be released for PS2 and DS! WOW, imagine playing that

sweet nextgen "Secret of Mana" in Multiplayer with your best mates on a DS!

I am officially excited!

Addendum: As it turns out this is brandnew info! hehehe, I am giddy with hope for salvation! Secret of Mana dude!

It's bloody SquareEnix guys! I've hated most of their new games...

If the hero of this games is another whiney angsty teen who hates his father, I.... woulnd't be surprised at all... :shifty:

I loved the original Snes game though...

I saw this actually and i still have hopes for the DS version....

Also - Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles is pretty much an updated version of the Secret of Mana Snes game, if you played both multiplayer that is.:tup::tup:

It had a couple of sequels actually, Seiken Densetsu 3 is my favourite, while Legend of Mana on the psx was an interesting experiment.

By and large the SD games are sort of middle-of-the-road; better than the SaGa games but nowhere near the Chrono or FF games.

Other way round, Secret of Mana is the sequel to Sword of Mana..

Sword of Mana (GBA) = Remake of 'Seiken Densetsu' (Game Boy)

Secret of Mana (SNES) = Western name for 'Seiken Densetsu 2'

Seiken Densetsu 3 (SNES = Would have probably been called 'Secret of Mana 2' if it had ever been released in the West.

There was also a SNES game called secret of Evermore that I think some people claimed was a sequel but was actually shit and had nothing to do with the Mana universe.

Lets hope this new one turns out decent. Online wireless co-op multiplayer for the DS version would be welcome too :)

Seiken Densetsu 3 if a brilliant game, as is Secret of Mana.

Around the time the DS was released in europe I was checking what games had been kind of semi announced and Secret of Mana was on the list. I would have been happy if they released the original Secret of Mana with wireless multiplayer and fancy touch screen spell selecting thrown in. I hope this new game is good though, I'll definately get it for mu DS.

:yep:

I loved the party system in that game. Being to play a semi-action rpg with a friend is loads of fun. Although, telling your friend to go to the "right" so the screen would properly scroll, gets tedious after while.

I think they realised that when making Crystal Chronicles, the system they used in that game worked well in my opinion.

I feel that Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu 3 are far, far better than any Final Fantasy game.

Yeah, I don't know about that. I mean I loved Secret of Mana AND I used to love Final Fantasy. I guess Secret of Mana had more immediacy because it's one perspective ALL the way. It's hard to say what could have happened had Square pursued the Secret of Mana line instead of Final Fantasy. I guess part of the charm of Secret of Mana to me is the fact that Square didn't trample all over my fond childhoodmemories with loud and annoying sequels full of FMVs...

And yes it was kind of tedious to tell your mates to go to the right side of the screen, but then you usually didn't have to tell them after the first half hour of play because it got kinda obvious. I actually played through Secret of Mana two or three times just for the experience of playing it with friends.
