Consolevania 2.6 released

I'm not opposed to subtitles. I can't watch most episodes of House without turning the subtitles on, although that's more for the medical jargon than the accents. But that's just the point, viewers have an option to turn on subtitles if they need it! Why irritate people with mandatory ones?

I'm all for subtitles.

Specially in the case of a language I don't comprehend (like Cantonese or French).

But I have mixed feelings about that because I often see stuff on TV that has really screwed up the translation. So if I watch a French movie with subtitles, how do I know that translator correctly translated it.

This is specially the case for slang and humor.

Ah well, at least subs beat the hell out of dubs. A dubbed version of consolevania with "proper" english would be... terrible.

They should do a subtitled version but have some fun with it, like get creative with the "translation".

In Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD one of the subtitle options is Shakespeare's Henry IV, part two, if I remember correctly. I haven't tried it yet, but I have a feeling that it won't sync very well.

I have always found Scottish accent freaking hilarious. I was able to understand what they said only when I completely focused on listening to them, but the moment I got even a little distracted their talking started to sound like something that was certainly not English or even half-English.

The show seems to be very good, although I didn't have time to watch the whole episode. for the music.
