Aussie Ben Posted June 17, 2006 I don't know about you, but this makes me want to play through Monkey Island 1 and 2. AGAIN.
Marek Posted June 17, 2006 Don't tempt me!!! I'm still on my 10-year break from Monkey Island so that I can forget and re-experience everything. I'm into year 5 now.
Aussie Ben Posted June 17, 2006 Bah, your signature has reminded me of this (also from Wikipedia): It is also worth noting that Ma-ti, while being caring when saving the monkey (Suchi), was actually interfering with the natural order of things, where normally the monkey would have been devoured. This is an elaborate loophole that questions Ma-Ti's entire existence.
Thrik Posted June 17, 2006 Heh, I've been feeling really tempted to replay MI1 recently. Especially after seeing this and this.
Roderick Posted June 17, 2006 Your efforts may be in vain, Marek. After playing it once I went through an 8-year break from Grim Fandango. When I played it again a few months back, I remembered most of it, except some obscure puzzles. I've learned from this that it's better to cherish these games and play them once every year, than to neglect them in the hope of forgetting about them. But you may experience this differently than me. Maybe you're really forgetful?
Erkki Posted June 17, 2006 Heh, I've been feeling really tempted to replay MI1 recently. Especially after seeing this and this. That has the opposite effect on me. I deeply hated Stan.
brkl Posted June 17, 2006 What is that ytmd place? Is any of that stuff, you know, amusing?
elmuerte Posted June 17, 2006 What is that ytmd place? Is any of that stuff, you know, amusing? ytmd is the online alternative to a hot poker in the eye with background music
Thrik Posted June 17, 2006 I would completely call the FPS Stan ytmnd amusing. Most of it is shit, though.
adfegg Posted June 17, 2006 Heh! Since Dominic Armato did that article on Thumbs a while back, I couldn't help thinking about the MI tune on Guitar Hero!
The Tingler Posted June 17, 2006 I'll give this guy his due - he's a bloody good pianist! Loved the metronome moment. Although it must be said, some of his music choices for the video were a bit dull. I'm annoyed that he didn't include the Scabb island opening campfire tune - one of my favourite pieces of music ever, that. Anyone watched his other videos? They're pretty cool too. ("Zelda!") I dabble with all the games now and again. I almost got roped into playing Sam & Max Hit The Road again after watching the recent trailer. But Grim... now that might happen again soon. Aussie Ben Posted June 18, 2006 I loved the DKC3 "Bonus Time" and SMB3 "Hammer Bros." combo he did. Two very great songs there. The Sonic the Hedgehog video is awesome, too. Goes for about 14 minutes, and covers EVERYTHING.
SpiderMonkey Posted June 18, 2006 But you may experience this differently than me. Maybe you're really forgetful? Colour me really forgetful then - I went back to MI2 last year after a break of god-knows-how-long and could only remember the outline of the story and barely a quarter of the puzzles. I think I'm much more fluent on MI1 though, since I've replayed that one a lot more over the years. What is that ytmd place? Is any of that stuff, you know, amusing? If you don't find either of those Stan ones funny, then no, you probably won't like it. It's not the kind of place you can browse, because like any bastion of internet humour, it's mostly full of people beating the funny out of a joke by endless repetition, but I find the ones that make it to other message boards tend to be worth a smile at least. The Tingler Posted June 18, 2006 The Sonic the Hedgehog video is awesome, too. Goes for about 14 minutes, and covers EVERYTHING. I see what you mean! Even the bloody 'Continue' noise! Does he have a Sonic 2 one on there? Always preferred the music from that.
miffy495 Posted June 19, 2006 Man, this is making me want to pick up the piano again. Started on guitar when I was ten and gave up the piano two years later. It's only been 6 years, I could still... meh, not likely. I AM replaying MI3 now though, as an unrelated coincidence.
netmonkey Posted June 19, 2006 I could never ever again play CMI and EMI, but to not play Monkey Island 1 and 2 for 10 years? that's just insane. I must at least watch the introduction once in a while... GROG! GROG! GROG!
Thrik Posted June 20, 2006 I could never ever again play CMI... Wtf? Apparent opinion is denied.
miffy495 Posted June 20, 2006 Yeah, CMI is great. And to hell with popular opinion with regards to EMI. It may not have been as good as it could have been, but it was still a solid adventure game. I will proudly stand here and say: I LIKED EMI.
brkl Posted June 20, 2006 EMI was completely decent and actually entertaining unlike most adventure games these days.
Moosferatu Posted June 20, 2006 Yep, EMI was fun. I still remember when those first screenshots came out... I just replayed SMI and MI2 for the first time in, I don't really know, maybe four years. Previously I'd always thought that SMI was better, but I think I've finally come to see the light. LeChuck's Revenge really is the superior game. I still miss the insult sword fighting though. Jayel Posted June 26, 2006 I taught myself to play Captain Dread thanks to the sheet music by this guy on the video. Quite a challenge it was, considering that I'm neither musically inclined nor know how to read sheet music.
miffy495 Posted June 26, 2006 grats man, sounds like quite a feat. I'm considering using the sheet music to make myself up some guitar tabs (I can read music much better for piano than guitar) and teach myself some acoustic goodness.
wes_borland Posted July 19, 2006 it would be really cool to have the piano sheets for those songs, can you PLEASEEE pm me your email adress? thanks dude!
miffy495 Posted July 19, 2006 All the sheet music is available on the guy's web page, here. Enjoy.
