Flægg Posted June 23, 2006 I do hope fox won't air the new episodes. They might be good at bringing new shows. But they handle them horribly. Just look at their less then ideal marketing of Arrested Development.

Murdoc Posted June 20, 2010 After those "feature length" episodes, I'm not that fussed anymore I couldn't make it through any of the ones I saw. Really? I mean I don't think at their best they were as good as the shows best episodes, but if anything I think futurama has always been really consistent on pretty humorous and interesting. Mot feature length episodes from tv shows are pretty meandering and Futurama's was no different, but I thought it remained pretty funny/good. I remember(that I cant recall) one being borderline awesome. I can quibble about a lot of little things in those and the show, but really it still remains funny(maybe not always historical), smart, and creative... or maybe I just love the idea of any future and space so much I don't see the crappy parts. Still, good news, though I'm not sure why they changed the beginning to introduce the characters, seems like a step back... or at least so focus tested of where the outcome was they needed a starting to introduce the human element, the hook of the show... but then did it in such a bandaid sort of way it kind of just ruined the original intro.... and I'm starting to nit pick, hehehe. Futurama, wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Kolzig Posted June 21, 2010 I have faith in Matt Groening to make tv show shine again. I've always loved Futurama more than the Simpsons. The tv movies were not as great as the tv show, but now that they are back to the 22 minute regular show format I'm very sure that things will pick up again. Lu Posted June 21, 2010 Personally, I loved the first movie "Bender's Big Score", but I thought the rest of the movies were rather weak. Probably because the first movie was like one giant fan-service film, bringing back almost all characters. Totally looking forward to the new season. I read that it starts out with like an hour long special, so yay!
elmuerte Posted June 21, 2010 The movies were ok, sometimes the story was too long. But I'm looking forward to new episodes.
ThunderPeel2001 Posted June 21, 2010 The thing that always got me about Futurama (and I LOVE the original series) was that the first episode was nothing like the others... The tone of it reminded me of Groening's "Life In Hell" strip, which I also loved. But after that, it totally changed into something else (Suicide Booths were nowhere to be seen, for one thing). In episode two they introduced the peripheral characters, but they were (and still are) very two dimensional: Amy was a rich kid who slips on stuff. Hermes was the bureaucratic Rastafarian (sounds better on paper). And Zoidberg was the world's worst doctor. The central four characters were much more interesting, it made me wonder why they tied themselves to four other characters, when they could have left it open for ones they were going to discover (like Brannigan and Kif). This worked well for The Simpsons, I'm surprised they didn't try the same formula. Just random thoughts I've had about Futurama over the years... Feel free to ignore

ThunderPeel2001 Posted June 21, 2010 Totally, although Zoidberg works where Amy and Hermes don't. I always thought that The Simpsons should have become Springfield after about season 7. Zoidberg works better, but he's still not much of a character. I'm not sure The Simpsons should have even been The Simpsons after season
gdf Posted June 22, 2010 Wow, this thread is four years old. In other news, Futurama is ace and I'm looking forward to seeing the new episodes when I can. Thought the movie things were pretty decent.
Nachimir Posted June 22, 2010 (This is the only forum I've ever been on where people don't complain about threads being resurrected . Have never understood why people complain about it elsewhere). I got fairly sick of both the Simpsons and Futurama, but I'll give it a chance though. Probably didn't help that I once borrowed box sets of every season of Futurama, then binged on them for a few months, but it seemed to overstretch characters and jokes a lot of the time. toblix Posted June 22, 2010 (This is the only forum I've ever been on where people don't complain about threads being resurrected . Have never understood why people complain about it elsewhere). Not to derail the thread (Futurama, yeeeah!) but that reminds me of a feature every forum should have. If there is more than, say, a year, between two posts in a thread, that should be indicated somehow.
syntheticgerbil Posted June 22, 2010 (This is the only forum I've ever been on where people don't complain about threads being resurrected . Have never understood why people complain about it elsewhere). It's kind of handy, I don't know why generally people get so upset about it. I suppose it's annoying when someone resurrects an old thread for the sole purpose of arguing, but in any other case it tends to keep the same topic in one nice, neat little place.
