toblix Posted January 12, 2007 Just played through it. Reveal hidden contents So what was I supposed to do at the end, when I was all colossal? It was great, but why wasn't the story more spread out? Or does my asking that indicate I didn't get it? Is there a link between this and Ico? And are there more games coming from these guys? And what was up with the glowing tails I ate? Why did I eat them?

miffy495 Posted January 12, 2007 Yeah, there probably will be more games from Ueda and co. This is actually a bit of a bad thing for me, as it means that when the team comes out with their next game, I'll have to either ignore it or bite the bullet and get a PS3. Hopefully the price will have gone down by then and Sony will have been humbled a bit so I dont' feel like I'm promoting asshole-ism. Man, that video gets me thinking. I'm very happy with SoTC the way it turned out, but seeing those 3 riders try to take down a colossus simultaneously really sets the mind racing. The possibilities of co-operative colossus slaying are very intriguing. I'm not quite sure how the logistics of it would end up working, but then I'm not a game designer. I can instead only dream of the exhileration of myself and several friends working together for a good period of time and finally succeeding in bringing down the beast. The whoop of joy that erupts when we conquer it. The satisfaction of knowing we'd all done our parts, and done them well. Perhaps one day it'll get a semi-sequel (or even a short downloadable game, as we seem to be in that era) that will live up to this. A guy can dream, eh? Whatever you do, in the end your struggle is futile. It's interactive storytelling; I found it much more engaging than if it had been done in cut-scene. I'm not sure what you mean by the story being spread out though. The glowing tails increase your stamina circle. Fruit increases your health bar. Incidentally I was very pleased to discover that on hard mode several of the colossi have extra weak points* rather than merely extra health, meaning an extra stage to the battle. Once my brother is finished with the game I intend to play some time attack and unlock some stuff. *for massive damage.

I also love stuff like that, although the gamer in me expects these kinds of sequences to have different outcomes. The part where I'm being pulled back into the well was beautiful, especially the part where I'm trying to hold on to the steps. Suddenly the climbing mechanic gets poetic or something, I dunno.
