elmuerte Posted March 20, 2007 Between T1 and T2 John was born and tought by his mother about the Terminators (while traveling all over the place). Between T2 and T3 nothing really interested happened with John and his Mother because they thought the Terminators were stopped, or at least, this is how it was presented in the beginning of T3. Well, except the very brief period of this mother still being paranoid and stocking some more weapons.
eljay Posted March 20, 2007 I was under the impression sarah never thought it was over only john got tired of her "paranoia", maybe I need to rewatch 3. Admittedly you are right, between T1 and T2 would be a better fit for "The Sarah Connor Chronicles". Despite the name they seem to want John to be the major character, and a young child would be a poor focus for this setting (not that high school kid is much better). DanJW Posted March 20, 2007 Since it has the Terminator brand they're bound to put terminators in it, and no this wouldn't fit the continuity of the films. Bad idea if you ask me. I'd rather we finally get the full-on war of the machines in a T4. Interestingly Eljay, current theroetical physics predicts that a "soft" paradox like the one you described is perfectly possible. It's only "hard" paradoxs that are impossible (or possibly destroy the universe if they happen). To put it another way; you can't kill your own grandfather, but you can become him. Also, here's some of the Sgt Candy deleted scene from T3. Shame I can't find the full thing.
brkl Posted March 20, 2007 Oh man, that's hilarious. I enjoyed T3. It didn't take itself too seriously. I should rent it and watch it with commentary. BTW, if someone is looking for a funny commentary, Batman has a hilarious commentary with Adam West and Burt Ward. Well worth the price of the dvd, even if you wouldn't enjoy the movie itself. Ginger Posted March 20, 2007 Problem I see with the series is that it can't have any terminators in it for it to fit in the continuity of the films. That doesn't hold, as time isn't linear in the terminator series. After the decision was made in T3 to send one back, skynet could then choose to send one back to an earlier time, this would ( I assume in this made up Si fi physics) change the flow of time so that the events of T3 didn't happen as shown. Although this could be an unwise decision as you've all implied that skynet benefits from the events of T3 (I've never managed to watch it until the end, 2 attempts, twice I've been distracted by more shiny things), but it wouldn't be difficult to write in some justification for the need to send them back. Tim Burton's Batman or the 70's movie where all the bad guys gang up together and Batman's helicopter gets attacked by a shark but luckily he has a can of shark repellent? elmuerte Posted March 20, 2007 Also, here's some of the Sgt Candy deleted scene from T3. Shame I can't find the full thing. Well.. the full part doesn't contain much more of it. The best thing is that this scene contains a joke refering to Arnolds start in the movie career, e.g. the "we can fix it". In his first movie: "Hercules in New York" they fixed his voice, because of Arnolds accent. Not that it made the movie any better
miffy495 Posted March 21, 2007 ...the 70's movie where all the bad guys gang up together and Batman's helicopter gets attacked by a shark but luckily he has a can of shark repellent? Heh. Owned that the second I spotted the DVD 5 years ago. Love that movie. Strangely, have never listened to the commentary. I think I have a project for once Thursday's exam is over. Ginger Posted March 21, 2007 The latter, which has Adam West and Burt Ward as Batman & Robin. I would have loved Adam West to do a commentary on the former, that'd be brilliant.
Wrestlevania Posted March 21, 2007 In the absence of the previously-scheduled Judgment Day, John Connor has gone from messiah to burn-out, and is wandering aimlessly around Southern California, living "off the grid," with no permanent home or credit cards so he can't be tracked. In all seriousness, that's a pretty smart directional choice to make. Having John Connor live rough on the streets, leading a secretive, nomadic lifestyle engulfed by paranoia, should give the screenwriters a lot of potential choices, episode to episode.
