Wrestlevania Posted May 13, 2008 For anyone who's not already seen, PMOG has finally launched to the public. I've been helping test PMOG since it's very early - and very different! - alpha days more than a year ago. It's recently been redesigned from the ground up and looks better than ever; I'm sure other Thumbs will like their strong Victorian Steampunk aesthetic just as much as me. It's great! I encourage everyone to head over there and have a look. They're a fantastic bunch and have built a brilliant freeform web game.
Nachimir Posted May 13, 2008 I'm pretty jazzed by the aesthetic and the idea, though I tried it briefly yesterday and it seemed very distracting - I thought it would be a lot more passive than it is and I could have it on while I worked
Wrestlevania Posted May 13, 2008 Well that's the idea. Interestingly, I considered the alpha version too passive; it was like Progress Quest in your browser, leveling up based on where you went--and that was pretty much it. The leveling up is still in there, but it's now augmented better by creating quests and setting traps. And it's only as 'active' as you want it to be - you can switch the toolbar off when you want to, or hide it outright. I love the thing, I'm just gutted that it only works in Firefox. I do all my casual browsing in Safari now, as the font rendering is infinitely better than anything else on Windows.
Nachimir Posted May 13, 2008 I really like the idea, and will definitely be putting some time into it, it's just at work it's pretty much: "HEY! Would you like to do a quest?" "Erm.. no. I'm meant to be writing that proposal... :)"
Wrestlevania Posted May 13, 2008 I'm called Scrobbs Excellent - I've added you as an ally. Thinking I may have to switch back to Firefox again now...
