Wrestlevania Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) TWiT and Audible are giving away the first of a new 5-book sci-fi series, somewhat unfortunately called Metatropolis, for free--and this one's read by Saul himself, Michael Hogan. No credit card required; just a simple, basic login (email and password) and you can have the audio book for nothing. Edit: Urgh, looks like you have to install their software client to actually download the file. Edit edit: Jesus H Gates, their ugly "mobile" software doesn't even support the long-established Nokia N95, nevermind my N96. Roderick Posted October 13, 2008 I was highly enthused, now scared. Isn't there a torrent? It's not like they'll notice it since it was free to begin with.
Wrestlevania Posted October 13, 2008 Corey Doctrow, friend of TWiT but long-time detractor of Audible, says their audio books are stuffed with DRM. Which, I guess, is why you have to use Audible's software client(s) to download and manage any books you buy from them.
Roderick Posted October 13, 2008 I have to say, listening to Saul Tigh's quaintly rumbling voice could put me to sleep every single night. It might be a worthwhile investment Though of course, Tigh is nothing if he doesn't do fisticuffs with Adama every now and again.

Audible.co.uk > Compatible Players > Mobile Phones > Nokia lists both N95 and N96.
Wrestlevania Posted October 13, 2008 But, when you install their software, it only lists as late as the N93 when you're asked to configure the client.
Tanukitsune Posted October 13, 2008 (edited) I've been using Audible for a almost a year, and I haven't had any trouble with them so far? And the Audible Manger does download the books directly to iTunes once the download ends? Does it really have DRM? Audible says you can even burn their books into a CD? I'll download the book later, I still have a credit left and I just downloaded a Discworld novel... EDIT: Dang, that's pretty short! I've had podcasts longer that this audiobook!
