Erkki Posted December 8, 2008 Does anyone here play this? I think someone mentioned it in the DeathSpank thread. I just played it for the first time last week with some colleagues and it was really fun. And I don't play any pen and paper RPG's or card games like MTG or whatever. The way you can combine the cards may produce some quite funny results. In the last game I was a three-handed Orc-Gnome half-breed Wizard with a chicken on it's head, riding a flatulent fire-breathing armored tiger steed (who has nine lives). I'm even thinking of making a computer game out of it (or a similar game with original rules and cards, to not infringe on any copyrights). Already started coding a prototype, but time will tell whether anything comes of it...
ThunderPeel2001 Posted December 8, 2008 Ha! I played this and loved it. I also immediately hit upon the idea of trying to capture the joy online... Good luck!
toblix Posted December 8, 2008 Yeah, I've played it. It's really fun, especially as a breather between "heavier" games.
Nick Posted December 9, 2008 I think I said DeathSpank reminded me of Munchkin. Awesome game, there are some hilarious add on packs as well that are well worth a look. I think it's the sneaky underhandedness aspect that I enjoy the most hehe.
Erkki Posted December 9, 2008 I'm even thinking of making a computer game out of it (or a similar game with original rules and cards, to not infringe on any copyrights). Already started coding a prototype, but time will tell whether anything comes of it... Hmm... I just had the thought of making the prototype be an Idle Thumbs / Video Games themed variant (Thumbs alone is probably not enough material or too insidejokeful? or is it?). It would be called "Thumbskin". Get ten thumbs up before your buddies do! * Start out as meh (), gain 10 :tup:s to win. * Negative reviews () remove your :tup:s. * Player's start out with no class -- everyone is J Allard in the beginning * Become The Wizard or Fanboy * Use modifiers (Wuxtrys) like Extreeme! (+5) and Extreeeeme! (+10) * Fight deadly monsters, such as the 8-bit Cock, Senior S. Duche, Señor Super Duche and Peter Molyneux * Monsters drop hot scoops which can make you more powerful * Shovel (unique item only fanboys can use) allows you to scoop up even more and gives a +5 against zombies * Throw head-crabs at enemies to turn them into zombies If anyone wants to collaborate on this (especially with design/graphics), let me know but it may take quite a while to code. Roderick Posted December 9, 2008 Hehe, cool. When I first played Munchkin a few years back it didn't really get to me. Perhaps it was a bit hyped too much at that point and I was expecting something more grandiose than a whimsical little card game. Now, Machiavelli, there's a card game.
