brkl Posted January 14, 2009 This is only vaguely related to the discussion, but: I think I can safely say that is the ugliest thing I have ever laid eyes upon.
Nappi Posted January 14, 2009 I like it. What is it supposed to represent? Edit: Ahh.. 2012. How lame.
Scrobbs Posted January 14, 2009 Or, as there was much hilarity in the UK when it was first noticed, Lisa Simpson giving London a blowjob. Some wag animated it: Also, and in light of recent thumbs podcasts, strangely relevant, the BBC held it's own logo competition. Some one at the Beeb wasn't paying attention, and this sneaked onto the list... From the designer: "Here is my design for the Olympic logo. It is very simple and so memorable. The hands represent Britain pulling together to reveal the Olympics." That man needs a medal. The BBC noticed after they were ridiculed, and removed it from the list. Horticulture Tycoon Posted January 14, 2009 Is it supposed to resemble some kind of poorly-constructed structure that could collapse at any moment? Because that's what it makes me think of. (EDIT: Okay, that's definitely not what it makes me think of anymore, thanks Norfolk) Boy, if Chicago gets the 2016 games, the bar has been set awfully low for us in the logo department. SignorSuperdouche Posted January 14, 2009 (edited) Did anyone see this? EDIT: Norfolk'n'Clue beat me to it. I don't understand why the olympics needs a new logo every time anyway, what's wrong with just having the five rings? ThunderPeel2001 Posted January 14, 2009 I don't understand why the olympics needs a new logo every time anyway, what's wrong with just having the five rings? Merchandise, my friend. We can't spend millions without trying to recoup some. I'm hoping that the designers were so good (and it was actually made by a fantastically respected design company) that they know that by 2012 the logo will actually look uber cool. We'll see... Ginger Posted January 14, 2009 Also, and in light of recent thumbs podcasts, strangely relevant, the BBC held it's own logo competition. Some one at the Beeb wasn't paying attention, and this sneaked onto the list... I don't see it, I've been trying to visualise it many different twisted and dirty ways but can't see what is wrong with it. HALP MEH PLX
Ginger Posted January 14, 2009 Oh may have just seen it now, i think I was going too abstract and not realising that I was staring the answer in the face, I can see how that slipped through.
SignorSuperdouche Posted January 14, 2009 The left hand is missing a ring if that helps.
gdf Posted January 14, 2009 This is only vaguely related to the discussion, but: I think I can safely say that is the ugliest thing I have ever laid eyes upon. I love that logo. Also, I shopped the goty.cx banner to be "emerging" from Goatse, but I'm not suer how appropriate it is to post.
Scrobbs Posted January 15, 2009 Referring back to the original topic somewhat, I was reminded this morning of the pre-recorded voice in Leeds train station who announces the train departures etc. She is identical to the lady who announces things in City 17. The shape of things to come?
Scrobbs Posted January 22, 2009 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1125916/Brown-U-turns-secrecy-MPs-expenses.html That was a close one! Unbelievable. I was linked this. I don't read that rag. Honest.
