The be fair, the former is from a preview, and it's taken out of context (he's referring to his in-game sadism rather than the game as a whole). I remember PC Zone had a bit of fuss when a Daikatana ad bearing a glowing quote from a preview (tactically dropping words along the lines of "if it all comes together, this game could turn out to be...") opposite or over the page from a scathing review.
