Sleepdance Posted December 24, 2010 So last Monday I was in Cankar's hall, our biggest concert hall, preparing the stage for a Christmas concert. It was really interesting to see the backstage complex(which is in fact a shelter very similiar to Fallout:)). That concert was also our first to be recorded in full HD. On other hand it completely destroyed my biorhythm for the last 2 weeks(sorry bbX1138, I'll do that as son as I get better). Happy christmas to everyone
F4T C4T Posted December 24, 2010 Hey Thumbs, I'm sitting here whiling away the last few hours at work before heading home for the holidays break and just thought I'd shout out Merry Christmas to you all. MERRY CHRISTMAS! There's still snow on the ground here in the UK so unless it warms up a ridiculous amount over night it should be a White Christmas too! I just hope the roads/traffic are ok as I have a couple of hours drive to make this afternoon.

Hermie Posted December 24, 2010 Merry christmas Thumbs! I got an external HD, an electric razor, and some other cool stuff, but my real gift was spending christmas with my long distance girlfriend, especially seeing her experiencing the Norwegian christmas for the first time. toblix Posted December 25, 2010 About Norwegian Christmas, the main difference is that the main celebration takes place on the 24th. This is the day Norwegians do one or more of the following: Eat porridge (whomever finds the almond gets the marzipan pig) Attend the special Christmas church service Eat the traditional Christmas meal, which is one of (in order of popularity):Pork ribs roasted whole with the skin on, rather than spare ribs Salted, dried, and smoked lamb's ribs which are rehydrated and then steamed, traditionally over birch branches Something else, like cod, pizza or mexican food [*]Go around the tree singing carols [*]Open all the presents The 25th is for having a huge breakfast, relaxing, checking out your presents, taking walks, whatever. I don't know how common the 24th celebration is around the world, but I have the impression it's a Norwegian/Scandinavian thing.
Gwardinen Posted December 26, 2010 Germans open their presents on the evening of the 24th, so being a half-German I've tended to open my German presents on Christmas Eve and my British presents on Christmas Day.

Kolzig Posted December 26, 2010 Merry Christmas Thumbs! Got from my wife the last book (Three caballeros) missing from my Don Rosa Disney collection and some other cool things a heavy metal book that teaches english/japanese with metal to metal fans. Also got a special edition Mario magazine from Japan that had three Mario songs on a CD played by a huge orchestra. Amazing music! Also Mario All Stars special magazine and a Super Mario Bros dot character buildbox. Hard to describe what it is, but it's awesome! Already made Luigi and the fish enemy from Mario which name I don't remember. Now I have to kick my lazy ass to really learn the fine Japanese language, otherwise I will not understand these magazines.
Orv Posted December 27, 2010 The 1TB Toshiba HD I bought cycles the power on itself every 35 minutes without fail, regardless of what I do. (I've tried the official fix, it can't find the HD, I've tried third-party stuff, no dice.) So I'm pretty godsdamned livid and get to go spend more money tomorrow, hopefully less if they let me return it.

It is weird to be reading things with partial attention; for example, after the first attempt at reading this post, I thought you were talking about a bicycle. My mind had substituted "Shimano" for "Toshiba" and I was startled to realize how far off the mark I was, at the second pass, when I attempted to parse the acronyms. :wtf: :wtf:
Squid Division Posted December 27, 2010 I got a 2 TB WD MyBook last year for christmas, it was such a turd when I first got it. I've finally got it to be serviceable but the computer still won't boot with it attached, even after the BIOS settings were changed. I got a new WD hard drive (not a MyBook) and it seems to be working well, guess I'll make the old one a backup drive. Basically, I can empathize with you to the utmost degree. Nachimir Posted December 27, 2010 Merry Christmas.Getting high is a good idea SNIFFIN' GLUE 4 JESUS. I have had a very chilled out Christmas with my brother, where we talked about everything from small businesses to off road biking. On Wednesday, I'll be having about 20 friends over and feeding them.

Well I went back and returned it and got a 2TB Seagate GoFlex Desk, which has worked flawlessly since I got it. It's not the fastest thing ever, but it won't impede Steam (which I what I got the thing for. I've been living like a godsdamned magpie for the last couple years. Installing and uninstalling games because of limited HDD space, every day or two.) So I'm pretty happy. Didn't even have to spend an actual penny. My Best Buy card that they gave me when I returned the Toshiba has 1 cent left.
miffy495 Posted December 28, 2010 I am currently in Victoria staying with my mother and stepdad for a quick post-christmas visit. I opened what they got me for Christmas today, and though I have yet to bring it home, I am now in possession of a Kinect. Naturally, the first thing I did was go on Amazon and order the boxing day-discounted Dance Central. Since, we've been messing around with Kinect Adventures. While I doubt that particular game will have much staying power, it is certainly a fun and goofy time. Kinect! to , depending on how much space I can free in my apartment. Kolzig Posted January 5, 2011 I need a new phone. I'm leaning towards buying ZTE Blade, a Chinese neverheard company's phone that has Android 2.1 as OS and 3,5" capasitive TFT touchscreen. That would be my choice because it's cheap, a little over 100 euros. Too bad at the moment those are sold out because I'm one month late for that phone, only way to get it is through an auction website. Also I'm scared as the later models are said to be worse in quality than the first batches. One of my friend's brother bought one in late november when it came out and has been really satisfied with the phone so there I got a reliable user review also. Does anyone here have any feedback about this phone? I know in UK Orange sold an OLED screen version of this for £99.

pabosher Posted January 6, 2011 My to-be Oxford tutor apparently rang my house phone, looking to speak to me about some work I sent her during the interview process. Omfgnotyvm. I only sent it as a ploy for an extra reason to let me in - I didn't want this to actually happen! Ohgod.
