gdf Posted April 17, 2009 So I've been considering buying Demigod, been very interested in it for a while but I think I'll have to wait until I get paid at the end of the month because I have next to no money right now. Anyway, figures like this make me want to support it even more. There's no DRM and it's still getting pirated the shit out of. The old "we hate DRM, BAAWWWWW" excuse is gone, and people are exposed as the horrible bastards they are. It's the exact kind of game PC guys should love and want to support, and it's already been stolen X5 over sales? Shameful. Legit buyers - and the game's ratings - are also suffering because of that thanks to the over-populated servers.
elmuerte Posted April 17, 2009 Things will always be pirated/illegally-downloaded as long as it costs more money that people are willing to pay (which is quite often >0). Having or not having DRM will not change that. But having DRM does scare people off, especially when it's intrusive. ps, How do they know for sure certain users are not legitimate customers when they have no DRM? Without DRM you wouldn't be able to distinguish the users at all (note: I'm considering CDKeys/Online-Accounts to be a form of DRM).
brkl Posted April 17, 2009 What, demi-? Why play a demigod when there are perfectly decent omnipotency simulators available

I also don't believe bringing up piracy helps, practically everything from the successful to the unsuccessful is pirated to some extent. It doesn't mean anything. Stardock might have tried advertising the game a little better.
