toblix Posted July 8, 2009 Just finished an awesome Halo 3 co-op session with Wrestle, Miffy and N0wak. Well, first I schooled them in multiplayer. It seems pretty easy so far, with the immediate respawn, although our allies seem untrustworthy, turning against us at the slightest provocation. Not sure I fully got the whole skull business -- was I supposed to run around with it instead of just dropping it right away? Was I supposed to put it in my inventory? Where's the inventory button? How many slots is my inventory?
Wrestlevania Posted July 8, 2009 Well, first I schooled them in multiplayer. You know, I don't think I've said it before, but I really respect a teacher who's prepared to stand (right) at the back and let his pupils lead. Not sure I fully got the whole skull business They unlock "special" effects as well as awarding you several extra achievements.
Patters Posted July 9, 2009 Halo 3 Co-op is a hell of a lot of fun. Make sure you guys do the final level on legendary with ghosts, this in particular is the best way to finish the campaign.
miffy495 Posted July 9, 2009 although our allies seem untrustworthy, turning against us at the slightest provocation. If you're talking about the AI guys, when you start gunning them down in an elevator, I was actually quite impressed that they started shooting back at you yelling about how you're a traitor. Less impressed when they started shooting at the rest of us and we had to methodically execute all of our allies to survive the ride. If you're talking about Mike, Pete, and myself closing the door of the lift before you could get on and abandoning you in the self-destructing base, on the other hand, the explanation is much more simple. After your first episode in an elevator, I wasn't quite sure if you could be trusted with another ride down. Also, we're jerks.

How come only I got shot at - and subsequently killed - during The Elevator Incident? Could you just stick to silently farting next time, toblix, like any other decent human being / Covenant would? Still, it was fucking funny to see that huge fireball whoosh in under the closing bulkhead, knowing 'blix was instatoast on the other side.
Wrestlevania Posted July 9, 2009 I'd forgotten about Bungie's thoroughly excellent Halo 3 online integration. This snap from last night's shenanigans courtesy of n0wak: Cocks out Arse kicked Names taken Mercy withheld Shit rolled Boo-fuckin-yah.
Nevsky Posted July 9, 2009 Looks like fun! Only ever played Halo 3 deathmatch-style, and then mostly local.

n0wak Posted July 9, 2009 How come only I got shot at - and subsequently killed - during The Elevator Incident? Could you just stick to silently farting next time, toblix, like any other decent human being / Covenant would Dude. I got killed first. All I heared was "HE'S A TRAITOR" then, bang, fucking shotgun at point blank killing me instantly. Followed by the sounds of a slaughter in the elevator. "Slightest provocation". I'd say killing two or three of them is a bit of a provocation. And if you're finding this easy, we can definitely go Legendary. Shit gets hard though. And if you find THAT easy, we can start with a few of the skulls enabled. When you play a campaign you can activate the skulls for extra in-game effects (there's also a scoring variant of the campaign where you get points for headshots/kills/streaks, etc... there are achievements for those and I want them. The skulls add multipliers.) For example, the skull we picked up on the begging of the first level makes it so that shields do not regenerate unless you melee an opponent. Add to that the skull that makes enemies throw wayyy more grenades and the one that removes all of your HUD and, well, you have a recipe for death.
ysbreker Posted July 9, 2009 It sounds Like I need to get my a copy of halo 3.
miffy495 Posted July 10, 2009 I don't know about skulls, but I wouldn't mind trying a chapter or two on Legendary. We'll have to figure it out at game time next week, I guess. (if next week is a thing?)
toblix Posted July 10, 2009 I guess. I don't know how this whole thing works, with co-op and scheduling, and who plays what. I'VE NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE.
Wrestlevania Posted July 10, 2009 Wednesdays, 9pm BST.
toblix Posted July 10, 2009 Also, if more than four people want to play, we could always switch places. For example, I'm quite... expendable. Although I did jab a grenade into a tank at two points.
Wrestlevania Posted July 10, 2009 That wasn't tactical; you just like forcing lumpen objects into dangerous orifices.
James Posted July 12, 2009 I should probably play this game some more at some point. IN OTHER WORDS, if you have a free space sometime etc.
toblix Posted July 13, 2009 I'm always up for co-op. Well, not always, but at select times.
Wrestlevania Posted July 16, 2009 Well last night went completely to shit on my account. Mother-in-law was using our phone in the games room for over an hour last night, which meant I couldn't get to my Xbox until after 10pm. So apologies if I dicked anyone around. I know n0wak was waiting to play at least. I would suggest we try again tonight, but my son, T, spent most of last night and the early hours of this morning repeatedly being sick. So I've had approximately 2 hours' sleep and feel like shit already (and it's not even 9am yet).

Oh sorry, Nevsky. I did hang around for a few minutes and thought I'd checked through my online friends list carefully, but I must have missed you being online (as well as n0wak). Apologies. miffy495 Posted July 16, 2009 Unfortunately, I'm stuck working until early next week. If someone is up for a game on Sunday (probably not, as L4D is then) or Monday though, I'd be in.
Wrestlevania Posted July 16, 2009 I may well be offline for most of next week, as Verohari's coming stay for a few days while she's between flats.
Nevsky Posted July 16, 2009 Apologies. I ended up playing a mixture of Ikaruga and Eternal Sonata anyway. I messed up my eyes staring at black and white bullets, then learned little tidbits about Chopin. So that's marginally more painful, and educational, than Halo 3, I'm sure.
