Xeneth Posted March 5, 2010 Wait, does it say "feces" or "business"... I can't remember now. Nooo! Portal's not installed on this machine right now, don't make me download it just to find out!
Korax Posted March 5, 2010 VGuwINIpByM It's "business." Subtitles confirmed it (although they're too small to see in the video).
Chuckpebble Posted March 5, 2010 Did anyone notice there was a new update yesterday? I mean, there's something after the frequency regulation update. I'm at work now so my ability to look into it further is spotty.
thl Posted March 5, 2010 yep! new ending! (spoilers obviously) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7lgqS-yq88
Nappi Posted March 5, 2010 new game! http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/62662 Holy shit: "a stand-alone, full-price retail release"

thl Posted March 5, 2010 This is pretty lame, but my work firewall blocks shacknews but not the shack RSS. Does the story say anything after: Quote it is "a stand-alone, full-price retail release" with "new gameplay mechanics, storyline, and some surprising new twists." Just can't wait 5 hours to get all the details!
Sombre Posted March 5, 2010 After all this amazing ARG work, and some truly incredible kind of ideas, why did they just announce it on a GI cover? Seems counter intuitive.
Sleepdance Posted March 5, 2010 Fuck yea. Portal 2 announced!

I can't wait to get that issue of GI in the mail. But I do agree, I was expecting something at GDC to be announced.
thl Posted March 5, 2010 Yeah It's kind of deflating, although i think maybe some form of conventional official announcement had to happen somewhere so I can't say I'm surprised. I'm just much more excited that hopefully the next Portal will be more than a 3 hour game!
Thyroid Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) While I agree that the way they finally revealed it was anti-climactic, more Portal is a good thing, overriding any disappointment I have and resulting in a joyous squeeeeeeeeeeeee, as children would say. Nappi Posted March 5, 2010 It seems that you can still keep looking for clues about the upcoming Portal related announcement, as there are bunch of underlined letters in Portal 2 announcement: http://store.steampowered.com/news/3559/

dpp Posted March 5, 2010 HELL YEAH, best news this year so far... Portal is my top game of all time, I can't WAIT to play its new iteration. I'll play it again this weekend to see the new ending (although I've watched it already in Youtube)
thorn Posted March 6, 2010 I'm not quite sure what to make of it, but this version of the ending shows Chell has a health meter. <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJruBtuUACo&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJruBtuUACo&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en_US&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
Xeneth Posted March 6, 2010 Don't despair about HL2:Ep3 fellows! I'd be VERY surprised if we didn't learn some interesting stuff about that as part of this package! Pure speculation, but now that we've gotten teases out of the way in previous titles and established that they take place in the same universe, I think the tie-ins will keep flowing. Keep an eye out for information about the Tanker "Borealis" in Portal 2: What's on board, why it was built, etc. We may be able to infer quite a bit about what Gordon will be up to in his next adventure... dpp Posted March 6, 2010 I just finished the game again... short, but sweet! Reveal hidden contents I didn't see a health meter... but I noticed the robot that comes to you and says something like "Thank you for taking the cake party position", which is a reference to the point in the game right after you avoid the flames and gladOS tells you to lie on your stomach and spread your arms and wait until security escorts you to the cake party

toblix Posted March 6, 2010 Gordon and Chell are clearly related. Their health meters are almost identical!
