brkl Posted November 18, 2010 Here's a walk-through of the first level of Black Ops on Hardened difficulty. The solution is not ever firing your gun. RULv6HbgEjY
CaptainFish Posted November 18, 2010 Outside of the turret section where you can't die, this is a tough one. Do you make your NPC partners, simulated trained soldiers, unable to kill enemies in your way? I can see that meriting a video as well. Do you make them able to die without your aid? That's seems more frustrating. Maybe they should've just left you alone for most of the level. It was so silly when they entered the slow motion room and the other dude just took care of everything, jeez. That is one thing I liked about what I saw from Medal of Honor. There were lots of sequences where you would sneak up on a group or attack a point, and your allies would always engage on your fire.

Quanta Posted November 19, 2010 Oh, the absurdity! Any illusion destroyed by just doing nothing. They really should abandon those lukewarm attempts at creating a compelling singleplayer experience and just concentrate on the multiplayer (with the MP beeing the only reason why it's bought anyway). Same for Bad Company 2. I tried the SP and it was shit right from the beginning: 4Vn7zm6A8OY Stealth mission with motor boats? The whole intro is one long Shoot the hinges! moment. The whole intro is one long Shoot the hinges! moment. . . .Hey look, it's the first mission of CoD: World at War. HUGELY IMPORTANT EDIT BECAUSE I AM A MORON: So I couldn't directly remember playing the Bad Company 2 campaign, and that looked vaguely similar to some stuff in WaW. Turns out I -have- played the BC2 campaign, and also happen to be retarded. Moving on.

Orv Posted November 25, 2010 The ricochet is neat, but having either the precision or the sheer dumb luck on Thompson's video, to get it through that hole, is bloody insane. Some people just play these games too much.

Forbin Posted November 28, 2010 I guarantee some baby journalist praises it's "innovation". Thank you angelbaby. I'm glad some robots agree.
Thompson Posted November 29, 2010 4Nv13PQWS5E That last myth was badass.I feel like they could have done a better job of it with the theater mode and the visual effects on the video title screens but the content is great.
Armchair General Posted March 29, 2011 Just finished this and I realise my game critique falls into three broad categories: Great, hmmm yeah it's ok and crap. CoD Blops has earned itself a CRAP rating. Shame on it. I knew I should have bought Crysis
twmac Posted March 29, 2011 Why is this thread still alive? This game is the antithesis of everything exciting in video games.
Armchair General Posted March 29, 2011 Why is this thread still alive? This game is the antithesis of everything exciting in video games. Sorry, that was my fault. I felt I needed to vent my spleen about how rubbish this game is. Let's never speak of it again
mikemariano Posted August 4, 2011 Why is this thread still alive? Alive? Now it's undead! Now you can play Call of Duty on the goddamn moon. I'm wondering how far they'll go in portraying moon movement. The article mentions low gravity, but will these zombies moan in no atmosphere? If astronauts have never done more than carefully shuffle (or bound) over the moon's surface, will they force you to take the same types of steps? Can you impale a zombie with an American flag from one of the Apollo missions? I will never play this and probably won't even search for a Let's Play on YouTube, but these are the questions taking up space in my head.
clyde Posted March 10, 2014 I played some Black Ops 2 last night and decided on Hardcore Search & Destroy; it was awesome. I either have never played that game type before, or I just didn't know what is going on. Before the chat reached high levels of bigotry, I was having an awesome time on both the attack-rounds and the defend-rounds. I am really impressed that this game-mode can feel so distinct from everything else available in the game and be so much fun. I never played Counter-Strike (which I assume is where this game-mode comes from). Super fun, great pace, very satisfying to win.
Architecture Posted March 10, 2014 I will actually champion Black Ops 2. It may have been the first Call of Duty game where I didn't bother finishing the campaign (thanks to those incredibly unfun, unbalanced branching missions), but it featured the series' best multiplayer design since Modern Warfare 2. When I traded in most of my PS3 games to help offset the cost of a new CPU, Black Ops 2 and the original Modern Warfare were the only Call of Duty titles I kept in my possession. I really hope that Treyarch continues to build better games, and I'm optimistic that an extra year in the development cycle can't hurt.
