Twig Posted August 20, 2013 Last night I dreamed I was traveling in France. I wanted to visit a place called The Milary Comodium. Which is not a thing. And not real words. But that's what the sign said in my dream! But it was closed. It was on a hilltop, a single building, and I feel like it involved mirrors somehow? Anyway, like I said, it was closed. So I wandered around, and found a cat in an alley. I was about to reach down and pet it when another cat caught my eye. Because it was missing an eye. But it was more like the eyelid was really swolen and shut, so maybe more of a black eye, but I was certain it was missing an eye. Suddenly, I was surrounded by cats. And kittens. And then I decided to try The Milary Comodium again. At which point I realized I had lost my camera, and started screaming, "No! No no no no nonononono NO!" The end. Apelsin Posted August 20, 2013 Not a recent dream, but it's the latest one I remember. I was in some kind of summerhouse situated along the bank of a broad river, sand all around it. Near the bank was this very small strip of sand standing up from the water like a miniscule island. The sun was shining in a way that it very seldom does here in Sweden which made me unsure of where I actually was. I believe I was jumping back and forth between the bank and the sand island when suddenly a singer I really like turns up, riding a bicycle made from a stuffed horse. I was at first delighted to hang out with her but then two other young men showed up and she wanted to be with them instead. And I was sad. The end.

I know a lot of people have trouble reading words in their dreams. I can't remember ever having actually tried before. At the very least, this is the first time I ever remember trying, and it was definitely only those three words on the sign.

Patrick R Posted August 20, 2013 I have no idea about the order or logic of these images, but last night my dream featured all of the following: * Lena Dunham, naked, still fat but with really buff arms, working out on a Bowflex. * My pet rabbit from when I was 10, Cinnamon, running on a carpeted floor. * I played pool in a basement I didn't recognize. * Bouncy castle with more rabbits I didn't recognize in it. * One of the dad's books from Gone Home. * Christmas lights, on and blinking, in a giant pile in a garage. Twig Posted August 20, 2013 Here, let Batman explain it Hah. I know you're joking, but I should also clarify that I knew the name of it before I read the sign. That was just how I found the building.
SecretAsianMan Posted August 20, 2013 Hah. I know you're joking, but I should also clarify that I knew the name of it before I read the sign. That was just how I found the building. Am I joking? Am I? Yes... Actually, I first saw that episode when I was a kid and I grew up believing that was true.

SecretAsianMan Posted August 21, 2013 At some point last night, I woke up from an Idle Thumbs themed dream. I went back to sleep shortly after and now for the life of me I can't remember what happened. All I can remember is that it had the Thumbs in it and it was amazingly awesome, I just don't know why. I was watching the pre-cast Spelunky stream just before I went to bed, so maybe it had something to do with that.

I wish my dreams were consistent enough to keep a solid theme like that
Twig Posted August 22, 2013 Let's see... I was back in Japan, for some reason. I decided I wanted to climb Mt. Fuji again. This time I was all alone, and I decided to take a different route to the top of Mt. Fuji. This one was along a highway that went all the way to the top (DOESN'T EXIST!). The highway also had a walkway above it, with lots of billboards and stuff, so I was walking along the backs of the billboards as I trudged toward the summit. Suddenly that walkway ended, and I almost fell off because I wasn't really paying attention to the ground! Holy shit! I stopped just in time, turned, stumbled back a little bit, grabbed the railing, and gravity switched off. I didn't let go of the railing, so I didn't float off, and eventually gravity returned to normal. I walked back to my hotel room, where I met a cute Japanese girl who helped me communicate with the hotel owner. We talked for a bit about nonsense; I don't even remember what. The conversation ended, and she headed toward her room. I said, "I'm in Room 101 if you want to hang out later!" She walked into a door without a room number - it led to another hallway of rooms, so that I don't know which room she was in. Oh well. I walked toward my room, which I knew the location of, and realized I was in room 105! I was a little sad because now she wouldn't know where I was. I opened the door and what the fuck there are three people in this room, two of whom I know. I went to school with one, and met the other last time I was in Japan. I have no idea who the third was. They were in my bed, at my desk, and behind the door, respectively. They saw me earlier and decided to surprise me like this. This room is a very small room. You know your average college dorm room? The kind with a microwave, mini-fridge, and two lofted beds with desks beneath them? Half that size. The end.
clyde Posted August 23, 2013 I had a pinball dream. I love pinball dreams because there aren't many machInes within a reasonable distance from my house and I love Pinball! So we were at a gas station on a rural highway. The place was the type where most of the sunlight is blocked out because the sun-bleached displays for merchandise that has not and will never sell, is taking up most of the windows. The type of place that has tons of merchandise, but only replenishes cigarettes, beer, and beef jerky. So we are in there and it's that infamiliarity-experience of stopping for gas on a long trip.; and I discover a pinball machine! It is dinosaur-themed and looked like it was made around 1979-1985. In the dream, I felt that I had played this particular game before. The long-haired brunette chain-smoking 40-something clerk informed me that the machine was in poor condition and she didn't want to have to give my money back, so she handed me a clay dice that was to be inserted into a cubic slot near the coin-feed. I played my first ball and it was super fun. The playfield was mostly a velvet red color and the incandecent lights gave the transparent portions of the playfield a yellowish color. The playfield design was similar to Pinball Fx's Iron Man table, but there was a lot more space in the lower and middle part of the playfield. At some point the white, plastic flippers started vibrating ans buzzing and I was concerned that the machine would recieve further damage, so I climbed under the machine and flipped the small metal toggle to turn it off. I love how most of my pinball dreams involve machine-maintenance.
Twig Posted August 24, 2013 Man, I've been remembering my dreams more than usual lately. Weird. Two last night! I was a student, or maybe a prisoner, or something, I don't really know. It was a weird atmosphere, like I was learning, but I had no freedom to do what I wanted. I was coming out of some underground passage (maybe it's where I lived?) and greeted by a group of guards with spears and an almost Roman-like armor getup. This was normal, everyday life for me, and I took pride in my ability to fuck with them and make them hate me. I think I did this several times before the Big Event happened. Today, I stole a coin from one of their pockets. They were used to my shenanigans, so let me get away with the coin, and shooed me off to the bus stop where I'd get my ride to school(?). But there was one guard who approached me from around the corner as I meandered to my destination. He was a huge dude, and really loved to go on power trips like he owned the entire world and we were all his playthings. He stopped me at a corner and demanded the coin I took. I said "no, they gave it to me", or something like that, and he started trying to grab it from me. I kept away from him for a bit, but eventually he got me and grabbed the coin. Then he ran directly into oncoming traffic and SMACK a semi-truck hit him. Instead of flying through the air from the force, he just kind of stood there like "ow" and the truck crumpled up around him. A van drove up, the driver got out, and stuffed the guard into. The driver looked at me and shrugged, like "welp, he's dead soon, not much we can do" but the huge guard starting screaming and frothing at the mouth and got back out of the van and ran up to me like "HOW COULD YOU DO THIS?!" before the driver managed to stuff him back in the van. I was a little taken aback, but remembered that I had to catch the bus. At which point I was on the prison/school bus telling my fellow inmates/students about this totally wacky thing that happened to me with a sort of shocked wonder. YEAH. I was Gohan from Dragonball Z. Like the young Gohan, five years old or whatever. Except I was a miniature, gnome-like version. I was living up in the attic of a family, and I could turn into a fox. The family had a daughter who was my size and could turn into a wolf. We were in love and wanted to get married (five years old??), but she knew her father hated me because he chased me away every time I tried to join in on the family hunting expeditions. Foxes aren't wolved! Oh, and her dad was just a normal-sized old human dude. I tried to sneak in with the pack yet again, and he caught me yet again. This time his daughter explained that we loved each other and he should accept that. He gruffly accepted this but said that I would have to prove my worth. I don't remember what this entailed, but I remember multiple things happening before we ended up white water rafting, maybe looking for something (I want to say looking for a sock, but I may be mixing up another dream with this one). At this point, he trusted and respected me, so this was just for fun. Except then he fell into the water. I tried to reach for him, but the daughter stopped me just in time. My finger-tips touched the water and were immediately frostbitten. She said he'd be fine. The end.
clyde Posted August 24, 2013 I infer some interesting perspectives on karma from your dreams Twig.
clyde Posted August 24, 2013 It seems that in both dreams, the person who wronged you was in an accident (for which you could not be considered accountable) after the conflict between you and the person had been resolved. Then in both dreams, you seem to be dealing with a sense of responsibility for the antagonist's punishment even though you yourself and others around you believe that you can't be blamed for that punishment. But it's obvious (to me, in my inference) that you do feel a sense of accountability for their suffering because those around you feel the need to reassure you that you shouldn't concern yourself with the ethics of fate. Twig Posted August 24, 2013 Hah, wow. I dunno if that's how I actually feel, but I like the interpretation nonetheless. Though in the first dream, I was the one in the wrong in the first place, stealing the coin! Though you could say I might've believed I was in the right because they let me get away taking the coin, initially.
tegan Posted August 27, 2013 I think I accidentally created a new genre of fiction in a dream last night: Canadapunk. The dream opened in a version of Toronto (I have never been to Toronto) with distinctly lowbrow alternate universe tech stuff. The big one I remember was a type of aircraft called a Sky Badger that was basically a pickup truck outfitted with wings and thrusters (it actually spent a lot of time as a pickup truck since there wasn't a lot of good runway space). There was this crazy, exciting chase through the snowy wilderness too. I also had a second dream that played out like a really dumb slasher film about a giant flatworm-like fish creature that was eating teenagers in a river. miffy495 Posted August 27, 2013 Can it REALLY be Canadapunk if it isn't set in Neo Toronto?
Roswell47 Posted August 27, 2013 Last night I dreamt that my dad and I went to London and the first thing we saw was, in the middle of this made up town square was a stand-up table and surrounding it stood two made up Swedish actors, a made up Norwegian politician and Bill Murray. But it wasn't Bill Murray from today, it was 80's Bill Murray. Surrounding these four people there were signs that said "No photos" in French, at least I knew that's what it said in my dream but it was actually just nonsense. Then I convinced Bill Murray to go grocery shopping with me and my dad in a super market that I'm pretty sure only exists in Sweden.
Roswell47 Posted September 1, 2013 I just woke up from a dream where I was commentating a live Hearthstone tournament that took place in a small movie theatre and Milla Jovovich was in the audience. After the game was over I got to talk to her and she said that she had played Gone Home.
tegan Posted September 1, 2013 I had some weird troubling dreams last night. Here's two that stand out: I'm back in high school and the kid that I used to be neighbours with in real life has disappeared mysteriously. The rest of the class acknowledges that he's gone, but many of them are acting suspicious and claiming that they have no knowledge of what happened to him when there's reason to believe they do. A planet-sized object is heading toward Earth, clearly visible looming in the sky at all times. It is in the approximate shape of a short black sword or a crucifix, with one of the short tines being significantly stunted and with a large disc connecting the four tines together. It's coming in sideways, with fire streaming off of it constantly. For some reason everyone else on Earth thinks that we'll somehow survive the impact, with Hollywood even making one of those stupid disaster movies about humanity surviving the crash before the object even hits. Terrifying.
Ben X Posted September 1, 2013 I've had an ongoing fear of that since watching Melancholia, but I normally manage to repress it pretty quickly whenever it bubbles up. I had a great dream last night, I was talking to the daughter of Nancy Allen, who in this dream is the spitting image of her mother in the late 70s/early 80s with a few other people (hangers on? her friends?) and this one guy is talking a load of shit about the dates of Nancy's films - putting Carrie in the 90s etc. Though I don't know the dates off by heart, I manage to use film trivia to place them (Robocop notably cropping her famous long blonde hair, De Palma and Lucas using the same auditions for New Hope and Carrie), and as I'm getting animated and telling her all this stuff about her mother's movie career, she smiles and gives me a peck on the lips. Such a wonderful fake memory, almost as good as the dream where I was going out with Natalie Portman and we spent the weekend at her family home cuddled up on the sofa watching the Star Wars OT. Roswell47 Posted September 5, 2013 I dreamt I was in a canteen but it had classroom furniture in it. In it was the band Dropkick Murphys together with comedian Bill Bailey on acoustic guitar. I requested a nonexistent song that was one of the most wonderful songs I've ever heard. Then we were all on a ship in a story sea but close to shore. There were a lot of killer whales swimming around us. We then somehow took the ship onto a flooded car park. Then I woke up for a few seconds just to go back into a different dream in which I was walking around a beautiful winter forest with my arm around a girl's shoulder. That's when I was woken up by the tinny sounds of Edvard Grieg's 'Morning Mood' coming out of a cellphone speaker.
