toblix Posted June 27, 2011 I wasn't really interested in this game until I heard Capcom is not letting people reset their cartridges, likely to stop used game sales. Great idea, huh?
Sno Posted June 27, 2011 I really, really don't see how not being able to reset your on-cart save data is supposed to be any incentive to not sell back a game. This is also far, far, far from the first time this has happened for a cartridge based game. There is also no official source affirming that that as the reason for the inability to reset the save data, the source is wild speculation from an enthusiast blog. Seriously, how did this become a story that multiple websites are picking up? Christ.
toblix Posted June 27, 2011 Christ. You can click the underlined text in my post, and it will take you to another page. edit: Oh, never mind, I misread you. As for how it's an incentive for not reselling, isn't that rather obvious? I mean, you can't start over as if it's a new game. I'm assuming that means there are things you can't do twice, like achievements (not that there are achievements, but that sort of thing.) How could this be anything else than an attempt to foil plots to sell it used?
JonCole Posted June 28, 2011 It doesn't deincentivize people from selling their copies back, it deincentivizes used games stores from buying back these copies. Kind of like how CD keys destroyed the secondary market for PC games. Is that not obvious?
