Xthumb 360 Multiplayer Variety Hour (Achievement Whore Edition)

I haven't seen a single mention of any Xbox 360 multiplayer gaming in quite some time so I figured I'd cast a wide net in the hopes that somebody has a desire to get their game on with a fellow Thumb on the 360. Here is a list of games I wouldn't mind playing sometime if anyone is interested:

• Assassin's Creed Brotherhood
• Assassin's Creed Revelations
• Battlefield 3 Co-op or Multiplayer
• Borderlands 2 2nd playthrough
• Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Special Ops
• Gears of War Co-op
• Gears of War 2 Co-op or Horde Mode
• Halo 3 ODST Co-op or Firefight (I think that's what it's called)
• Halo Reach Co-op or Firefight
• Left 4 Dead 2
• Resident Evil 5

I'll be starting Resident Evil 5 here in the next couple days since it's one of the last games I have left to complete so let me know if you'd like to join me. But I'm always up for any of the other games too!

Of these, i have Brotherhood, Revelations, MW2, Gears and Gears 2, ODST, Reach, L4D2, an RE5... I guess everything except BF3. (I also have Gears 3, Halo 3, and Halo 4. There's a big giant balance update coming soon for Halo 4, i'm looking to get back into it.)

I always liked Firefight in ODST more than what they did with it in Reach, so i might be up for that.

Gears 3 has a pretty phenomenal Horde mode too.

I hope you find a co-op partner for RE5, because it's great in co-op and sucks as solo game, but i'm not sure i'd want to play through it again.

Let me add a couple open-requests to this thread, games that were critically panned, but i love regardless: Any of the Armored Core games, or Guilty Gear 2: Overture, or Senko no Ronde, or Virtual On: Oratorio Tangram. (I'm pretty terrible at all of these, so don't worry about getting stomped.)

Also, if anybody is into some scrub play for any of the ArcSys fighters, specifically Persona 4 Arena or BlazBlue*, i'd be up for that. (Hell, i have Battle Fantasia too, if anybody has that.)

(* = Continuum Shift, specifically, but i have Calamity Trigger as well. I don't have Continuum Shift Extend.)

I don't have Gears 3 but I do also have Halo 3 and 4 and I suppose I'd be up to play them if there was some interest over the other games I mentioned. I really enjoyed Halo 4 and wouldn't mind doing some more Spartan Ops or just regular multiplayer (and I'm intrigued about this balance update you mention) but I think I've done everything I wanted to with the campaign on 3 and 4.

 

I'm on from around 9:30 PM to 12:00 AM Sunday through Thursday and from around 9:30 PM to 2:00 AM Friday and Saturday along with some sporadic times throughout the day on the weekend (yes I know my life is very scheduled). Feel free to add me and I'd be happy to play any of those games any time I'm on. Also, as soon as my friend and I finish our Borderlands 2 playthrough that game will be on the table too.

 

For anyone else who is interested, I'm still holding off for a few more days before I start RE5 so let me know if you want to get in on a playthrough, this will be my first time through that game. I'm still trying to finish Monkey Island 2 (stuck in this game at the moment) and Borderlands 2 so I might just hold off until those are done.

If you have any interest in trying to get a multiplayer session going on any of those games just let me know what times you are available in your time zone. Weekends are all I really have time for in the short term and I have LucasArts commitments but I would love the opportunity to play some good multiplayer if the stars align.

Would anyone be down to play some Halo 3 ODST legendary co-op campaign? I only played through that game once a few years ago and have been thinking of dropping in to give it another go.

I am done with almost all the listed games and now waiting for the most aniticipated game of the year acheter watch dogs which I preordered. I am currently playing Titanfall.

I might be willing to give ODST Legendary a go, never got those co-op achievements and I think I'm only a couple away from a perfect score on that game. Only thing is, I'm not sure 1) I actually have Xbox Live right now, though I suppose that could be fixed with a 1-month card or something 2) I have a usable microphone, my 360 mic crapped out a long time ago and I'm not sure I still have a headset compatible. Maybe Kinect could work for voice? I dunno.

 

Once I figure that stuff out, I theoretically would be into playing some stuff schedule permitting. I'm honestly not even sure what of those games I own on 360 at this point, I've done so much library shuffling (mostly been moving towards playing most console games from last-gen on PS3) that it's hard to keep track.

Okay, I have LIVE until September and I'm willing to try voice communication over Kinect so I don't have to pay for a new headset. Weird, the cheapest headset seems to be like... $20 unless I opt for some OEM piece of garbage. My greatest interest is in ODST, I'm still missing a ton of Firefight achievements, Legendary co-op, and of course the ridiculous 4-person vidmaster challenge stuff.

 

I believe I still have Gears of War 2, which I'd also be pretty interested in playing. Only thing is that I don't think I have all of the DLC, so some of the Horde maps might be unavailable to me. Granted, if I knew that I'd be playing with them at least a couple times I suppose I could pony up whatever that stuff happens to cost now.

 

What is the time difference in AZ right now? I know you guys don't do daylight savings or some silly stuff like that, so are you... one hour off from EDT? I think I might be available this evening, if I can get dinner cooked in a jiffy.

It looks like you are actually three hours ahead right now. This time of year we are basically the same as PST. I can usually get on by around 9 PM but I imagine that might be a bit late for you. If that time on weeknights doesn't work, I should have some time throughout the weekend where we can try to set up a session.

 

And I'm in the same boat as you with Gears 2 as well. I still need to go through all of the higher difficulty levels in the campaign and have barely touched horde mode or multiplayer so there are quite a few achievements I am missing there. I've actually fully cleared my 360 backlog at this point so my main motivation for jumping back in to a lot of these games is to get some of those sweet cheevos.

Ah yeah, that's pretty late for me. Even if I wanted to stay up that late, I'd have to turn the audio way down and I couldn't really voicechat so it'd be a severely suboptimal experience. I could definitely try to swing weekend times.

 

However, if you manage to get some people together to play 4-player stuff and need to fill a fourth seat, let me know and I might be able to work it in. Would still have the audio limitations in either case.

 

I wish there was a wireless headphones solution that wasn't 1) crap 2) multiple hundreds of dollars. I got a $100 Turtle Beach deal a couple years ago and the wireless interference was intolerable. With cats, I can't do anything that has anything to do with wires.

I just realized next Monday is Memorial Day so I decided I'm taking Thursday and Friday off this week to give myself a 5 day weekend. Hopefully that provides ample time to get a few good sessions going and knock out a good chunk of the game. 

 

And I'm right there with you on the whole cat thing. I have a strong preference for wired accessories over wireless so I've just gotten into the habit of always wrapping up my controllers and microphone after each session and putting them on my gaming shelf where the cats can't get to it.

At this point, my 360 backlog is completely cleared and my only motivation for jumping back into any 360 games would be to nab any missed achievements (hence the updated thread title). A refresh on games where I still have some cleaning up to do are:
