Kindness Coins

Kindness Coins is an indie game created for the Pulse-Pounding, Heart-Stopping Dating Sim Jam earlier this year. The gist of it is that you play as the girl being wooed by the protagonist in a dating sim. It's like five or ten minutes long and is a pretty brilliant statement on the way relationships work.

I played it a while ago and really liked it! I found the scenario to be one I was already used to, but the buildup to it, as well as the resolution, was interesting and educating on its own.

 

Also, it has a really familiar art style. I'm going to go all Lazy-Web and ask if anyone knows where I might have seen it before?

The artist is Spider, but I think it most reminded me of Awkward Zombie.

 

Also, the first post was supposed to say "the way relationships work in games," but my internet went down for twenty minutes for some reason. I'm leaving it though, just because.

Yeah, Awkward Zombie! I haven't read that in years, I thought it went on hiatus.

That was kind of a neat game. It was a cool look at the other side of the dating sim type of game.

I really really liked this. I actually kind of like the form of dating sims quite a bit (though the content, as satirized here, often leaves a ton to be desired), and I kind of wish that  it could keep going. The writing here is so sharp, and it'd be interesting to see the dating sim genre tackle something closer to an actual relationship.
